Brief Overview:
As Lead Scrum Master, you will serve a critical role in the successful delivery of software solutions for our enterprise platform. You will work with our development teams and their stakeholders to drive successful software delivery leveraging scaled agile principles, processes, and best practices. You will be a champion of agile software development methodologies by providing agile coaching and facilitating domain and team-level ceremonies such as backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to drive incremental improvement.
This versatile role is ideal for a process oriented, adaptive leader that understands the value of leveraging data analytics, curated artifacts, and soft skills to empower highly efficient software development in a matrixed environment. The scrum master will ensure that our teams deliver efficiently and effectively on their top priorities with quality. This will be achieved by ensuring that the team’s backlog is healthy, and that blockers are addressed both in real time and prevented in future sprints through retrospective-driven process improvement.
Core Responsibilities:
- Become a subject matter expert in how Amwell delivers products to its clients
- Drives operational success for our software development teams through identifying, managing, and resolving impediments across development teams
- Drives delivery at the team level by ensuring the following:
- Priorities are clear and understood across the team
- Work is properly broken down and understood across all roles on the team
- Dependencies are understood and managed effectively
- Sprints are responsibly planned based on team priorities, capacity, and skill sets
- Team level delivery plans account for all SDLC activities including implementation, quality assurance, documentation, release coordination
- Risks are identified and escalated when necessary
- Processes are adhered to and data hygiene is maintained for transparency and insight gathering
- Facilitates scrum ceremonies at a team level (Planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives, RCAs, and any other ceremonies necessary to drive efficient and effective software development
- Supports quality production deployments by managing a release process that substantiates readiness and quality standards have been achieved
- Aids in the establishment, implementation, and adherence of SLDC processes to support efficient software development, and actionable, outcome-focused data analysis
- Explains information and persuades others in complex situations. Effectively interacts, negotiates, and influences project teams and business partners to deliver acceptable solutions and results
- Drives decision-making and issue-resolution utilizing actionable data and metrics
Team Leadership
- Provides agile and scrum methodology guidance to our development teams to encourage and drive forward incremental improvement
- Leverages expertise in operational excellence best practices and quantitative strategies to ensure highly efficient software development teams (Consistency, Reliability, Quality, Dependability, etc.)
Qualifications:
- 7+ years a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Agile Practitioner
- Ability to succeed leading 3+ Scrum teams simultaneously
- Ability to lead scaled agile frameworks and collaborate support with other scrum masters
- Capable of leading organizational process improvement via an agile community of practice
- Can support successful scrum teams that may not have a dedicated scrum master and responsibilities are handled by other team members
- Scrum Master Certification(s): At minimum, Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM). Additional certifications a plus: SPS, PSF, ACSM.
- Strong understanding of software development processes. Experience with agile software methodologies. LeSS Huge experience is a plus
- Proven Experience with Agile Practices: Demonstrated understanding and experience in implementing Agile methodologies beyond theoretical knowledge
- Demonstrated examples of exceptional emotional maturity and EQ
- Understanding of microservices architecture, and DevOps concepts such as CI/CD, blue/green deployments, DORA metrics, etc
- Health Care industry experience a plus
- Ability to influence without direct authority. Worked in small, start-up environments as well as larger environments with the savvy to know how to best scale and build organizational capabilities, processes, and tools
- Passionate team player who is dedicated to the growth and development of the company, product, team, and individual
- Fluency in agile product delivery tools (Aha!, Jira, Confluence)
- Ability to guide, coach, and motivate teams towards achieving their goals while fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise between the team, stakeholders, and other external parties.
- Capability to facilitate meetings effectively, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and overcome challenges with a positive attitude.
- A strong analytical ability to solve issues that the team faces during the project lifecycle
