What’s this role about?
Business development managers play a crucial role in driving the growth of a company. They build a network of contacts to attract new clients, explore new market opportunities, and manage growth initiatives. Their responsibilities include making sales forecasts and projecting revenue in alignment with expected income.
This position requires a confident and proactive individual who is an effective listener and comfortable engaging with senior leadership. They should be assertive in seeking and securing business, dedicated to fulfilling customer needs, and capable of collaborating effectively with a team of sales managers in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated success in navigating complex sales processes will be essential for consulting with our Demand Response clients and creating tailored proposals to address their specific energy management requirements.
What will I be doing?
- Spearheading the creation of a comprehensive sales pipeline and business proposals aimed at promoting Demand Response programs to major energy consumers in the SPP & MISO markets.
- Actively pursuing and leveraging new business opportunities to meet sales objectives.
- Engaging with clients, participating in industry events, and cultivating strategic partnerships to strengthen brand presence and open doors for new business ventures.
- Advancing the development of solutions in partnership with key internal stakeholders.
- Identifying opportunities to establish additional cross-offerings and synergies in response to client and industry demands.
- Proficient in utilizing SalesForce CRM.
- Delivering market forecasts to support the company’s successful growth strategy in the U.S.
- Advocating for the company’s brand within the U.S. energy markets, particularly in SPP and MISO, to enhance customer awareness and increase market share against U.S. competitors.
- Experienced sales territory manager skilled in formulating and implementing regional growth strategies.
What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?
- A robust background in sales and business development, with the capability to implement strategies that cultivate and shape long-term sales opportunities.
- Proficient in managing and forecasting sales cycles effectively.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, able to confidently convey complex technical concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders, including operations managers, engineers, facility managers, and CFOs.
- Skilled in influencing and negotiating during intricate technical sales processes that involve multiple stakeholders.
- Highly regarded and trusted within the industry, possessing knowledge of best practices.
- A strategic thinker with a focus on operational execution.
- Exceptional customer management abilities, complemented by strong listening and communication skills.
- A professional individual who is articulate, honest, innovative, client-focused, and committed to enhancing energy markets for clients.
- A highly motivated person with a passion for green energy and technology.
- A team player who can work effectively both independently and collaboratively on projects.
- Commercially savvy with well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Existing relationships or contacts with US-based industrial and commercial consumers are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Trained in at least one recognized sales methodology (e.g., SPIN, TAS, Miller-Heiman).
